Species commonly seen are bushbuck, red and blue duikers, eland, hartebeest, hyena, giraffe, oryx, reedbuck, impala, waterbuck and zebra. The park has the most extensive diversity of safari activities ranging from Romantic Boat Safari along the Great Rufiji River, legendary fly camping trips, walking and compliment standard game driving in thriving wildlife areas.

Rates & Costs of this Selous Safari

In the morning, you will start your safari in Zanzibar in a light aircraft to the Selous, one of Africa’s most significant game reserves. On Arrival at Selous Mtemere Airstrip, you will be met by the driver guide, briefing information and drive you back to the camp. Relax and immerse yourself in your new surroundings before enjoying your camp’s delicious, fresh lunch.
There is time to relax for a few hours; then you will visit a village learning about the livelihood of local people and the totality way of life. You will visit schools, hospitals and the local market.
Afterwards, you will return for a hot lunch before departing on an afternoon boat safari. The boat safari is superb in the afternoon, watching wildlife come to the water’s edge to drink and getting close to bird colonies, hippos, crocodiles and the spectacular sundown. Then, you will return to the camp and relax in the fire bonfire, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – On Safari in Selous (Nyerere National Park)

After early breakfast, you will depart for a game drive exploring the game-rich areas in the park, driving through the savannah and along the river and lakes; these are ideal game-rich areas of Lake Manze, Siwandu, Nzelekela and Tagalala. Animals are expected, including elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalos, zebras and even rare African wild dogs.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch at lunchtime in a beautiful location with a clear view of the park. Then proceed with your exploration journeys in the park until late afternoon. Finally, you will return to the camp and relax at the fire bonfire, having evening dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Bush walks and departure to Zanzibar

Wake up early for tea or coffee, then depart for guided bush walks outside the park, an exciting chance to get close to nature and the best way to learn the details of the African bush. Walking along the firmed trail through the African bushes on foot brings about a new way of appreciating the natural environment.
